OY event
Casuarina Coastal Reserve
This is a full punch card event
Sunday, 5 July 2026
Come and join us for Mountain bike orienteering at Casuarina Coastal Reserve and surrounds. This is similar to foot orienteering but on a bike and all controls are accessible from bicycle trails, tracks, roads, clearing or close-cropped grass cross-country. The courses mostly use flatter parts of the reserve but on harder courses there are some more technically challenging sections north of the hospital. The easy course can be completed by beginners who have had some previous experience riding off road. The Long course features a lot of single MTB trails, mostly easy-medium difficulty with a few very short sections of difficult riding (or walk). Course lengths are measured as the distance of the optimal riding route.
COURSE ETIQUETTE: The single track area can get busy. Watch out for other riders. Please get off the track if you need to stop for anything. Please carry your own water and take home your own rubbish. There are taps at Lee Point and Dripstone Cliffs area but no water is being placed out on the course. Visit checkpoints in order shown on the map. Each team carries a punch card to record that they have successfully found their allocated checkpoints. Each checkpoint has a flag or locking plate with a punch device on it. Use the punch to record checkpoint visitation on your punch card. Carry your phone for safety purposes and to use the MapRun app for timing. (Manual timing can also be done by the admin team for those without the MapRun app.)
